**Private Assets (Senior) Tax Manager**12-month contract**
**Who we’re looking for**
We are looking for a tax professional with 5 to 8 years of experience to be part of the Group Tax team and to specialise in Private Assets as part of Schroders Capital.
The main focus of this role will be supporting and advising the business in relation to funds and investment strategies within the private and alternatives sector.

**The team**
The Group Tax department is a team of 34 professionals who together support the Schroders global business in all aspects of taxation. Based in the UK, but with team members in the continental Europe, the US, and Singapore, the department is responsible for overseeing the implementation of the group tax strategy, management of tax risks, and ensuring compliance with all tax filing, reporting and payment obligations, for the group and all of its managed funds.
The Schroders Capital tax team, which supports the private assets investment business - a strategic priority for the group, has 8 dedicated employees, as well as specialist support from other colleagues within the wider Group Tax team.
**What you'll do**
This is an exciting tax role supporting the rapidly growing Schroders Capital business, which provides a broad range of private asset investment opportunities to clients around the world. With over £68.3 billion of assets under management, investment strategies include real estate, secondaries, venture capital, infrastructure, renewables, securitised products and asset-based finance, insurance-linked securities, private equity and impact investing.
You will work within an expanding team of tax professionals in the Schroders Capital team, along with VAT, transfer pricing and product tax specialists from the wider Group Tax team. Your role in the Schroders Capital tax team will be mainly focussed on European fund ranges.
The Schroders Capital tax team supports the business in a variety of ways:
Growing the business:
- Assist with fund structuring, including liaison with and procuring tax structuring advice from external advisors and review of advice to ensure the fund structure meets its investment objectives, is suitable for the intended clients and is in line with the Schroders tax strategy.
- Ensure fund structuring advice is adequately implemented and communicated across the business.
- Assist with the establishment of fund entities from a tax perspective; including ensuring tax elections and filings are prepared in a timely manner.
- Review tax-related wording and disclosures in legal documents and other information available to investors.
- Work with legal and investment management colleagues based in Continental Europe, the UK and Asia to assist with tax due diligence and structuring advice in respect of potential fund investments, and understand the tax consequences and operational tax aspects of proposed business transactions.
- Submission of fund withholding tax claims, including working with fund custodians and service providers to ensure filings are made on a timely basis. Assess new opportunities for overseas tax refunds for our funds where applicable.
- Review and closely tracking the annual tax compliance for our fund ranges, including liaising with the fund operations team and external services providers to ensure returns are filed in a timely and accurate manner.
- Deliver tax reporting information to investors compliant with specific country requirements.
- Monitor and deliver of other key tax processes including fund distributions and withholding obligations, REIT compliance and investor onboarding and reporting.
- Review and update department procedures, controls and checklists on a regular basis relating to a wide range of tax matters;
- Assist the business with FATCA and CRS obligations for the applicable funds.
- Work with the business with investors and JV partners to understand and address their tax requirements, including negotiating tax-related matters in investor side letters. Addressing implementation aspects with the relevant teams across the business.
- Consideration of key tax risks relating to our fund ranges and assisting with development of mitigants and controls to manage and monitor such risks.
- Issue management and resolution, including tax authority audit support, across the range of applicable taxes.
