The **EIB**, the European Union's bank, is seeking to recruit for its Group Corporate Services Directorate - Group Digital Office (GCS-GDO) - Business Solutions Department (BSD) - Lending Division (LD) - Front Office Lending Unit (FOL) at its headquarters in Luxembourg, a **(Senior)** **Java Solution Architect**.**

**This is a full time position at grade 5/6 for which the EIB offers a permanent contract, and part time arrangement (of minimum 80%) can be accommodated.**

**Purpose**:
Would you like to make an impact and deliver the largest EIB in-house developed solution? In this role, you will have the opportunity to drive the development, implementation and maintenance of the Front-office lending, including supervising and coaching highly specialised external developers.

**Operating Network**:
You will report to the Head of the Unit and work in close collaboration with the unit’s squad leaders and internal business customers.

**What will you do?**:

- Act as thought leader in web and mobile technologies
- Design, develop, test, deploy, maintain and improve complex software systems having a very good understanding of the full-stack technologies ranging from front-end user interfaces through to back-end systems
- Be in lead of best practices for the full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations
- Influence software engineering best practices within a team
- Mentor junior software engineers to improve their skills and make them more effective

**Qualifications**:

- University degree in computer science or related disciplines.
- At least 5 years of relevant experience as a developer mainly in Java (a combination of experience in Java and other technologies such as recent JavaScript frameworks (Angular, React) or C# would also be considered relevant)
- Experience in supervising a small team (1-5) of developers would be considered as an advantage
- At least 2 years of experience as Java solution architect
- Hands-on experience in software development lifecycle
- Experience in taking technical design decisions
- Deep understanding of devops and agile practices
- Excellent knowledge of Agile principles, methods and practices
- Excellent knowledge of written and spoken English and good command of French. Knowledge of another language of the European Union would be an asset
- Excellent knowledge of English and/or French (*), with a good knowledge of the other. Knowledge of other EU languages would be an advantage

(*) Unless stated explicitly as a required qualification, a good command of French is not a pre-requisite for hire. As both English and French are however official working languages of the EIB, proficiency in both languages is a pre-requisite for your future career development. Any language clause in your contract must be fulfilled in order for you to be eligible for a promotion (either via the annual appraisal cycle or via an internal selection process). Proficiency is understood to mean the attainment of level 5 of the Inter Institutional language courses, corresponding to B1.2 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFRL). The Bank offers appropriate training support.
