The Environmental Research and Innovation (ERIN) department, made up of 200 life science, environmental science and information technology researchers and engineers, provides the interdisciplinary knowledge, expertise and technologies to lead solutions including the major environmental challenges facing society, such as climate change mitigation, ecosystem resilience, sustainable energy systems, efficient use of renewable resources, and environmental pollution prevention and control.
You will join ERIN's Environmental and Industrial Biotechnologies (BIOTECH) unit. This RDI unit has developed expertise in:
- metabolic engineering and integrative biology aiming the production of biomolecules of industrial interest produced by plants or microorganisms,
- developing new remediation technologies and processes for environmental pollution control
- developing new microbial risk assessment and management tools including wastewater-based epidemiological tools
The BIOTECH unit carries out impact-driven research geared to the development of bio-based products and processes of industrial interest, new biorefinery concepts for more efficient and sustainable processes, and new technologies for the detection and treatment of environmental pollution.
**Responsibilities**:
**How will you contribute?**:
For an ERASMUS+ project aiming the development of life-long learning materials concerning health-related water microbiology and wastewater-based epidemiology (WBE), you will be in charge of:
- Monitoring best practices for wastewater sampling and data analysis in perspective of WBE and build a related database;
- Constructing training modules, in collaboration with life-long learning professionals, on the wastewater sample collection, treatment and subsequent epidemiological analysis;
- Testing training modules with customers from wastewater treatment sectors and epidemiologists;
- Participating in the public outreach concerning WBE trainings.
Must Have Requirements
You hold a master’s degree in Microbiology or related disciplines and you have at least 4 years of professional experience.
Additionally, you have:
- Knowledge in water microbiology or monitoring of pathogens in the environment;
- Excellent writing and communication skills;
- Proficiency in using office informatic tools for text and graph generation;
- Ability to collaborate and communicate in multi-partner projects;
- Be a team player in a multidisciplinary and multicultural environment;
- Experience in developing communication and/or educational material, which is considered as a strong asset.
On top of that, you also have an excellent command in English. Knowledge in French and/or German will be considered as an asset.
