**EIF Posting**:
The **European Investment Fund (EIF)** is seeking to recruit for its **Operations & Information Management Department (OIM) - Investment Compliance and Eligibility Division (ICE)**, at its headquarters in Luxembourg* a **(Senior) Officer - Operational Tax Activities. **This is a full-time position at grade 4/5 for which the EIF offers a permanent contract.***

This is a generic campaign in the view of both current and possible future vacancies.

Panel interviews via video-conference are anticipated for February 2023.

Purpose:_**

EIF provides access to finance to SMEs through a wide range of selected financial intermediaries (as e.g. banks, guarantee, leasing and microfinance institutions, private equity and venture capital funds, etc.). To this end, EIF designs, promotes and implements equity and debt financial instruments, which specifically target SMEs. EIF’s activity is funded through both, its own share capital as well as funding resources entrusted by third parties to EIF as a manager or advisor (so called “Mandates”). In this context, Mandates can either be implemented as non-incorporated structures in form of managed accounts or trust accounts or incorporated structures.

The OIM Department is responsible for the implementation of back and middle office activities for both EIF transactions with Intermediaries as well as Mandates. In this context, the ICE Division is, amongst others, responsible for operational tax aspects arising in the context of Mandates or transactions with Intermediaries including e.g., tax administration, tax analysis of investment structures and tax reporting. Over the last three years, all EIF operational tax activities, which were previously covered within different Divisions in the Department, were centralized within the operational tax function in the ICE Division. Such function is closely interacting with other Departments/Divisions across the EIF.

You will report to and work under the supervision of the Head of ICE Division.

**_ Responsibilities:_**

At a level commensurate with your experience and seniority, you will:

- Ensure monitoring and administration of all matters related to withholding tax and capital gains tax on behalf of EIF and its Mandates (e.g., identification risks and opportunities related to withholding tax and capital gains tax, preparation of withholding tax reclaims, communication with tax authorities and preparation of requests for relief at source);
- Analyse tax implications and tax risks of different investment structures in cooperation with other EIF services and external parties (as applicable);
- Ensure administration of Foreign Account Tax Compliance Act (FATCA) and Common Reporting Standard (CRS) matters for EIF and its Mandates;
- Ensure compliance of EIF and its Mandates with relevant tax laws (in particular tax administration requirements such as the filing of tax returns) in cooperation with other EIF services;
- Monitor (international) tax developments and perform analysis of their impact on EIF in cooperation with other EIF services and external tax advisors;
- Update and upgrade regularly EIF’s operational tax procedures.

**_ Qualifications:_**
- At least three (3) years of post-graduation (after having obtained your initial university diploma) relevant professional experience at the same level of responsibility in international tax, preferably within Big Four or a reputable law firm;
- Any - or combination - of the following would be an advantage:

- Knowledge of and experience in tax regulations, principles of international taxation as well as understanding of EIF’s good tax governance standards;
- Experience with operational tax at a supranational organization;
- Good understanding of EIF’s products and mandates;
- Experience with the taxation of private equity and venture capital funds throughout Europe;
- Ability to analyse large quantities of information in short periods of time;
- Practical approach and ability to understand the operational requirements and priorities;
- Excellent knowledge of English, both oral and written. Knowledge of other EU languages would be an advantage.
