Senior Space Biotech AIT Engineer

DEINE MISSION:

Wir suchen eine erfahrene Fachkraft zur Verstärkung unseres Entwicklungsteams, das an der Entwicklung eines 3D-Biodruckers für Mikrogravitation arbeitet, der auf der ISS und zukünftigen Raumstationen eingesetzt werden soll. Die ideale Person verfügt über ein umfassendes Verständnis des gesamten Projekts, um die Montage, Integration und Testung des Biodruckers sowie anderer spannender Projekte zu leiten. Neben der praktischen technischen Arbeit umfasst die Rolle auch das Management von Zuliefernden, das Verfassen und Durchführen von Testprozeduren sowie die Unterstützung bei mechanischen und elektrischen Designaufgaben. Wir suchen jemanden mit einer Kombination aus technischer Expertise, Systemkenntnissen und ausgeprägten Kooperationsfähigkeiten

DEINE AUFGAEN:

• Montage, Integration und Erprobung Biologischer Experimente für die Raumfahrt, insbesondere im Rahmen der Vorbereitung von Flugmissionen
• Produktion und testen von 3D-gedruckten Komponenten (SLA) für Raumfahrtexperimente
• Entwurf von biowissenschaftlichen Experimenten für den Weltraum, insbesondere von Fluidiksystemen und Experimentgehäusen (3-D-Erfahrung oder Catia V5 bevorzugt)
• Definition/Durchführung von Analysen für thermische und strukturelle Belastungen der Weltraumexperimente in allen Missionsphasen (Transport, Start, auf der Umlaufbahn, Rückkehr)
• Enge Zusammenarbeit mit einem multidisziplinären Team, um die beste Leistung für das Gesamtsystem zu erzielen

DAS BRINGST DU MIT:

• Zwischen 5 und 8 Jahren Erfahrung in verwandten Bereichen.
• Erfahrung in der Montage, Integration und Testung (AIT) von Raumfahrtsystemen.
• Vertrautheit mit Raumfahrtstandards, insbesondere ECSS und SSP.
• Versiert im Umgang mit SolidWorks oder ähnlicher Software.
• Erfahren im Umgang mit MS Office.
• Ausgeprägter Teamplayer.
• Eigenmotiviert und proaktiv.
• Bereit, Verantwortung zu übernehmen.
• Anpassungsfähig an hohe Unsicherheiten.
• Pragmatische Denkweise mit Fokus auf Umsetzung.

• Fließend in Englisch, sowohl mündlich als auch schriftlich.

YOUR MISSION:

We're looking for an experienced professional to join our development team, focusing on building a 3D bioprinter for microgravity environments, intended for use on the ISS and future space stations. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of the entire project, enabling them to lead the assembly, integration, and testing of the bioprinter, as well as contribute to other exciting projects. Along with hands-on technical work, this role involves managing suppliers, writing and executing test procedures, and supporting both mechanical and electrical design efforts. We're looking for someone with a mix of technical expertise, systems knowledge, and strong collaboration skills.

YOUR TASKS:

• Responsible for assembly, integration and tests of electromechanical hardware used for microgravity experiments.
• Write and execute test procedures and reports.
• Research and engage with external test facilities and suppliers.
• Responsible production and testing of 3D-printed components for space experiments.
• Partially responsible for organizing laboratory tools, parts, and components.
• Provide support for requirement management and verification methods.
• Contribute to systems definition and design decisions.
• Support the design a microgravity 3d bioprinter system including experiments dishes, fluidic systems, and thermal control systems.
• Support definition/conducting analyses for thermal and structural loads of space experiments in all mission phases (transport, launch, on orbit, return).
• Work closely with a multidisciplinary team to achieve the best performance for the overall system.

WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED:

• Between 5 to 8 years of experience in related fields.
• Experience in Assembly, Integration, and Testing (AIT) of space systems.
• Familiarity with space standards, especially ECSS and SSP.
• Proficient in SolidWorks or similar.
• Skilled in using MS Office.
• Strong team player.
• Self-motivated and proactive.
• Comfortable taking on responsibility.
• Adaptable to high levels of uncertainty.
• Practical mindset with a focus on execution.
• Low ego and empathetic toward colleagues.
• Fluent in both spoken and written English.
• Ideally, proficiency in German is a plus.
