To maintain procurement scale benefits considering the group's current rationalization of its footprint the VPC is seeking to create strategic relationships with prospective partners.


Role Purpose:


As a Principal Category Manager Access Mobile Deployment Services & Civil Works, you will hold the responsibility for managing all strategic category activities related to suppliers and savings, including global and local level supply chains in the Networks Access Services.

The Principal Category Manager supervises the management of the Level 3 Category Deployment Services, to deliver the optimal cost of ownership for the category and savings targets in line with RBS methodology and agreed Value Add targets.


You will manage a team who runs end-to-end tendering processes with suppliers, in Vodafone markets, drive complex contract negotiations, manage demand/expectations of local markets, and work with executive senior stakeholders in the ruling process.

In cooperation with the group and local legal, finance, and technology departments you will create and drive a procurement strategy, and positive change and bring an innovative, fresh outlook to the category.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure the definition and delivery of Category Strategies, communicating with a range of stakeholders both internally and externally with strong collaboration with Design to Cost, Flex Team, and Health & Safety. Assessing all different inputs and driving outcomes making recommendations for supplier awards.
  • Steer and own global relationship with Key Category Suppliers, and is accountable for the commercial delivery related to the category.
  • Work in partnership with Operations and Enablers to ensure alignment of activities to support Category Execution, in line with the Procurement Model activity analysis and Network Strategies.
  • Demonstrate Value Add activities whilst securing the delivery of projects, goods, and services across the category.
  • Drive the negotiations and closures of contracts with suppliers over major deals.
  • Act as a manager, escalation, and focal point for issues within own Category.
  • Manager of managers who drive and manage the Category team through the development of objectives and targets for performance and career development.
  • Ensure successful delivery of Mobile Deployment Projects in Group & Local Markets.

Core Competencies:

  • Experience working in procurement at a global level, with technical knowledge of networks & services and proven ability to define and deliver category transformation.
  • Solid experience in procurement at a global level in the Telecoms industry.
  • Technical knowledge of Access deployment services /telecommunication industry/construction.
  • Ability to define, deliver and manage complex multiyear agreements.
  • Proven data review capabilities.
  • Effective engagement with stakeholders and ability to communicate and present to Senior Leadership (SLT).
  • Ability to manage a wide range of strong working relationships with internal stakeholders and Suppliers.
  • Proven governance in setting up and running crossfunctional teams within a global organization.
  • Customer obsessed, innovation hungry, and embodies behaviors of Vodafone Spirit, and Purpose and inspires these behaviors in others.
  • Proven track record of successful teamwork with virtual teams in a crosscultural environment.
