We are currently looking for an Autopsy Assistant (m/f) Ref°217 for our Department of Forensic Medicine on a full-time basis for a temporary one-year contract.
ABOUT THE LNS
The LNS is a major player in Luxembourg’s healthcare sector, serving the country’s patients, doctors and hospitals. Under the supervision of the Ministry of Health and Social Security, the LNS is a multidisciplinary public institution organized around six medical departments, two of which are designated as national diagnostic centers for human genetics and pathology respectively.
The LNS employs around 400 highly qualified staff with diverse backgrounds. The main purpose of the LNS is to develop analytical activities and scientific expertise relating to the prevention, diagnosis and monitoring of human diseases; to act as a national control or reference laboratory; and to carry out forensic missions. The LNS also collaborates with the University of Luxembourg and other biomedical research institutions, both nationally and internationally, on research and teaching activities.
In particular, in the field of diagnostics, the LNS covers the following fields of application: medical biology, microbiology, forensic medicine, environmental medicine, morphological and molecular pathology, and clinical genetics, as well as sequencing for rare diseases, oncology and pathogens.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
In this pivotal role as an Autopsy Assistant, you will play a crucial part in supporting our forensic pathologists to ensure the efficient management of corpses and the smooth execution of autopsies. You will closely collaborate with the autopsy team and be responsible for the following tasks:
- Independent management of body intake and retrieval with precise registration of entries
- Active participation in the planning of autopsies and preparation of necessary documentation
- Preparing and assisting in forensic and medical autopsies, including assisting in autopsies with independent subsections
- Utilizing software for the proper management and secure storage of evidence
- Autonomous management and maintenance of materials required for autopsies, including the autopsy suite, with responsibilities for cleaning and disinfection of instruments, autopsy tables, autopsy room, and mortuary coolers
- Planning and conducting farewell ceremonies for the relatives
PROFILE
Diploma as a Medical Section and Preparation Assistant or an equivalent qualification
- Minimum of 1 year of relevant experience in a similar field
- Solid knowledge of IT tools, particularly in the use of Microsoft Office
- Strong team spirit, initiative and high flexibility
- Strong empathy and absolute discretion in handling sensitive information
- Excellent language skills in German and English; French will be considered as an asset
