The Opportunity

Our Tire & Performance Science department is looking for a NVH engineer to support tire and technology development projects with noise and vibration/uniformity investigations, experiments and data processing. Furthermore, the position will support initiatives for efficiency and productivity improvements in tire development process / virtual tire development. The position reports to the Chief Engineer of the Performance Science group and is located in Luxembourg.

 

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Support noise and vibration/uniformity activities in consumer and commercial tire development projects.
  • Provide design and analyses recommendations to meet Noise, Vibration, and Harshness (NVH) performance targets. Investigate root causes, develop appropriate countermeasures, and summarize findings in technical reports.
  • Support development and implementation of advanced lab and on-vehicle tire testing,  innovative NVH analyses, and NVH performance prediction technologies (FEA, data-driven …).
  • Support virtual tire development and other initiatives to improve efficiency and productivity in the tire development process .

 

To join our team, you will need:

Education:

  • Master’s degree in Mechanical, Mechatronics, Automotive or Aerospace engineering or similar domain, with focus on NVH or acoustics.
  • Strong theoretical knowledge in structural dynamics and acoustics.
  • Familiarity with finite element analysis (FEA) technique and/or data-science is an asset. 

 

Languages:

English is mandatory. German and/or French are highly appreciated.

 

Experience:

  • 3-5 years of professional experience in vehicle Noise and Vibration/Uniformity assessment using experimental and/or modeling methods.
  • Practical experience with vibration and acoustic instrumentation, data acquisition, signal processing and analysis methods
  • Experience using commercial NVH data acquisition and analysis tools from HEAD acoustics HBK, Siemens/LMS or other.
  • Experience with numerical simulation tools like Abaqus, Nastran or Ansys with focus on NVH is a plus.
  • Experience with a statistical tool like JMP , Minitab or other is an asset.

Skills and Abilities:  

  • Demonstrated ability to solve complex problems and to transfer technology to practical application.
  • High proficiency with MS Office, and programming skills with general purpose software like Matlab, Python, ...
  • Develop and demonstrate creativity and innovation capacity.
  • Self-motivated, enthusiastic and able to work in an international collaborative team environment,
  • Excellent communication, organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Travel domestically/internationally up to 25%.
